Cliffside Village Books
Over the summer of 2019 we worked with Genevieve of Cliffside Village Books to design a new store front sign for her business.
Cliffside Village Books is “Your friendly neighbourhood secondhand bookstore in the Bluffs” featuring a wide selection of second hand reads. The store's mission is to “provide a quality selection of used books for our diverse customer base, help create and sustain a community of lifelong readers, encourage and inspire writers of all skill levels by hosting regular writer’s groups and to share our passion for reading and writing by providing a safe and welcoming environment.”
We worked with Genevieve to create a new storefront sign that was not only easy to read from the street but also on brand to fit with the feel of the rest of the store.

How did you hear about our services?
I first heard about OnmiWorx Inc. when Jack came into my store and introduced himself as a local graphic designer. When he asked if there was any graphic design work I needed done, I said no because it wasn’t on my mind at the time. About ten minutes after he left, I realized that a graphic designer was exactly what I needed and I scolded myself for turning him away.
How long had you been looking for a service provider for this project?
I had wanted to re-do my sign for a few years but I didn’t think I’d be able to afford it, and I didn’t want to have to search for the right person to design it. It was perfect timing that Jack walked into my store when he did.
Were you looking for other designers? Why did you decide to work with OmniWorx Inc. over other designers or firms?
Over the years, I had looked into a few other designers but I didn’t feel they were the right fit for me. Meeting Jack face to face was a large part of what tipped the scales. He was very respectful. When I said no, he didn’t push. He accepted my decision and left his business card in case I changed my mind. I looked up Omniworx Inc and saw they were a local small businesses that had worked with other small businesses in the area and that sold it for me.
What business challenges were you facing and how did OmniWorx Inc. help you solve them?
I wanted a new exterior sign for my store since mine was old and off brand. I was worried that if I hired a graphic designer they either wouldn’t understand my vision or wouldn’t be able to bring it to life for whatever reason. I didn’t have that worry with Jack. He was very easy to work with, kept me in the loop, and involved me in the decision making process.
How did OmniWorx Inc. help bring value to your business?
By making me a very beautiful exterior sign! The new sign has attracted a lot of new business for me. People who pass by the store all the time either didn’t notice or simply ignored the old sign. People take note of the new sign and it draws them in.
Do you have any advice for other small businesses looking for Graphic Design services?
Go with OmniWorx Inc, they’re awesome. Also, don’t rush design decisions. It’s easy to take design work for granted, but it has such a huge impact on our businesses. Your brand is your business and it is worth taking the time to find the right people to trust that work to.
What was the creative process like for you?
The creative process was smooth and simple. Jack may have just read my mind because he made and improved upon the exact sign I imagined. I was worried about keeping the sign on brand because the only thing I remembered about the original font was that it was custom, and I have very few digital versions of past signs I had made. Not only did we manage to find the proper font but Jack incorporated other elements from my logo that I hadn’t considered.
One thing I really appreciated was that Jack sent me not just the graphic to approve but a mockup of what the sign would actually look like once it was in place. So before I settled on the final design, I could see what each of my sign options looked like sitting above my store with my neighbour’s signs beside it.
Do you have anything else you would like to add about your experience working with OmniWorx Inc.
The final concern I had was actually getting the sign produced. Jack offered to reach out to some suppliers and get quotes for me (which was a generous offer above and beyond what I expected of him). I had already done some research into this so I knew who I wanted to go with, but Jack made the process even smoother for me by getting in touch with them directly. He figured out what specifications they would need and sent along the artwork in the appropriate format. It was a huge relief for me knowing that the production people were getting exactly what they'd need and that I wouldn't have to fumble my way through technical questions I had no idea how to answer.
