Five Amazing Years - Five Amazing Projects
2022 marked OmniWorx Designs 5 year anniversary so for our holiday special this year we wanted to highlight our 5 favourite projects from the last 5 years. From designing a sign for a bookstore along a major road in Scarborough to working with a Canadian TV icon, here are 5 highlights of our first 5 years.
Storefront Sign | Cliffside Village Books
Before
After
Situated along the Cliffside stretch of Kingston Road in Scarborough, Cliffside Village Books was looking for someone to update an old, fading and off-brand storefront sign. After walking in and talking to owner Genevieve about potentially redesigning her website, she reached out to us with regards to updating her store sign.
Although Genevieve was initially looking for a sign with black lettering on a white background similar to what she had so we designed to better match her brand, we realized that a sign designed like that would quickly fade because of the stores southern exposure. We proposed a reversed sign with white text on a black background as it would last longer before becoming difficult to read from fading and it was quickly accepted. The sign is bold and readable for those driving by yet still retains the look and feel of the store brand.
Reconnecting: Impact Report 2022 | 360ºkids
Serving over 3,500 youth in York Region each year, 360°kids is a non-profit organization whose mission is to “To help youth overcome crisis and transition to a state of safety and stability.” 360°kids has earned a reputation as leaders in offering high quality, innovative programming to the people they serve.
We worked with 360°kids to layout their 2022 annual report. With the theme of “reconnecting” we designed the report to represent this theme. with content, images and graphics that were all interconnected to each other. These connections take the reader on a journey about the impact the organization has had during their fiscal year. It talks about how they found success in reconnecting in person for their programs post COVID-19 and features some of their fundraising efforts from the last year. Lastly we decided to utilize the term “Impact Report” on the cover instead of the more general “Annual Report” because this report was truly showcasing all the positive impact the organization had on the youth in its program
We worked with 360ºkids through our OmniWorx Cares program, a program where we work with non-profit organizations looking to make our communities a better place to live, work and play at reduced rates.
Merlin’s Mistress Boat Graphic
This was a fun project and a first for OmniWorx. Sandi reached out to us to see if we could design a graphic for her and her partners boat with the name Merlin’s Mistress.
While it was a challenging project it opened up some new opportunities for us as a firm. We love designing graphics for boat owners anywhere in the Kawarthas or beyond. If you are looking for someone to design and produce a graphic for your boat please reach out to us with our contact form!
COVID-19 Signage | Muddy Paws in the Guild
This was a great project to work on despite the circumstances around COVID-19. We created uniquely branded signage reminding customers of the public health protocols in effect.
We created signage mask and hand-washing reminders featuring a dog in a mask and a cat with hand sanitizer washing his paws. We also created a social distancing reminder comparing the distance to 2 Golden Retrievers. Lastly we created paw prints for people to wait on outside that were socially distanced.
Presentation Design | Manscorp Media
This was a amazing opportunity we had shortly after our incorporation and an example of onboarding a client of Jacks from before the creation of OmniWorx Design. We had the opportunity to work with Peter Mansbridge, former host of CBC’s The National news cast.
Peter was going on a national speaking tour talking about his broadcasting career and needed someone to design a slide deck for the talk. The theme of the talk was '“pulling back the curtains of the news” and sharing with the attendees what it took to bring the news into the living room. At the time Jack used a pixilation effect on many of the pictures and graphics in the slide deck to symbolize the fact that the presentation was about revealing what it took to create a news broadcast.
To this day this project remains one of the highlights of our work history. It was amazing to hear about the stories behind many of the photos directly from Peter as he sat in the living room of our former Scarborough office on Dearham Wood and sharing the original prints of some of the images to be digitized for inclusion in the show.
Want to be part of our next 5 years and beyond? We specialize in custom brand programs, websites and signage for small and mid-sized businesses and organizations in Peterborough and the Kawarthas, eastern GTA and Prince Edward County. Contact us today to get a project started!
